Each SRG store provides one token every time a shopper opts out of using a plastic bag. Each token is worth 5¢ and is deposited in the BFF bin. Tokens are counted up weekly and added to a collective fund that gets evenly distributed across all SRG stores.

For the 2026-27 school year, SRG is proud to announce that each store will be distributing $750 in store credit every quarter to the Bright Futures Fund. That's $3,000 per store, per year, across our network of 28 stores!

We partner directly with Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) at the K-12 level, and with Student Services departments, and Basic Needs Centers to identify students who could benefit from support.

Our partner organizations handle the important work of identifying students in need and distributing support fairly and confidentially. After all, they know their communities best. Once a student is identified, they (or a parent/guardian, or the partnering organization on their behalf) receive a Bright Futures Fund card that can be redeemed for store credit at any participating Kid to Kid or Uptown Cheapskate location.

There's no paperwork for families to fill out and no awkward conversation at the register. Just a simple, dignified way to shop for what they need.

We build relationships with PTAs and school-affiliated organizations near each of our store locations, prioritizing elementary and middle schools for Kid to Kid partnerships and high schools for Uptown Cheapskate partnerships. We're actively growing this network store by store, and we always welcome introductions from schools, PTAs, and student support offices interested in partnering with us.

Eligibility and identification of students is managed by our partner organizations including the PTAs, school staff, or student services offices who know their students and families best. We rely on their judgment and existing processes to ensure support reaches students who will benefit most, and to protect the privacy and dignity of every student involved.

The Bright Futures Fund is funded directly by YOU via SRG's Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate stores. Every time you shop, sell, or trade with us, you have the option to opt out of taking a shopping bag. For every shopping bag you save, we donate 5¢ to BFF program. Not only are you supporting a business model that reinvests in local kids and families, you’re also reducing waste!
